Holidays in Southern Corsica
From Villa Avvenenza, a holiday can combine Mediterranean swims, walks in the Ospedale mountains, time by the Cavu river and quiet days at the villa.
Palombaggia, Santa Giulia, Saint-Cyprien and Cala Rossa are among Southern Corsica’s best-loved beaches. Pale sand, turquoise water, sheltered coves, water sports and family swimming give each bay its own character. Cala Verde remains the closest beach to the villa.
The old town reflects Porto-Vecchio’s Genoese history. Founded in 1539, the town was protected by five bastions. The Bastion de France overlooked the harbour and defended the settlement from attacks by sea; now restored, it offers a wide view across the gulf.
Above Porto-Vecchio, the village and forest of Ospedale lead into the mountains. At roughly 945 metres above sea level, the reservoir held by the dam is surrounded by pine woods and granite. Trails continue towards the Piscia di Ghjaddu waterfall and the viewpoints of Punta di a Vacca Morta.
The Cavu valley forms a natural link between the mountains and the coast. Its forest tracks, clear pools and river bathing spots are a refreshing alternative to the sea during a holiday in Porto-Vecchio.
The villa offers straightforward access to the town centre, beaches and the landscapes of Corsica’s far south. Back at the property, the enclosed garden, private pool and leafy surroundings provide a quiet setting away from the busiest visitor areas.
